Toll Melting for Certified Ingot

Designed Alloys will melt your material in one of our twin 6-ton Coreless Induction Furnaces and cast it into 21-lb ingots.  Further refinement can be achieved via our 5-ton Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) refining vessel.  If the material you submit does not meet your desired chemical specifications, we can make the proper additions to produce certified ingots that hit the target.  Please call us at 423-752-7360 to explore a tolling arrangement.

Lab Analysis

Lab Analysis

To arrange for analysis of your samples, please call us at 423-752-7360.  We have all of the standard metals lab equipment as well as the following:

 

  • Panalytical Axios-Max Metals XRF Spectrometer – used for the most demanding XRF analyses from high precision metals analysis to accurate trace metals determination. This unit provides consistent high-quality data across the full elemental range from Na #11 (Sodium) through U #92 (Uranium), in concentrations ranging from mg/kg to 100 wt%.
  • Leco CS230 – capable of analyzing carbon and sulfur content in metals from 4ppm to 3.5% carbon and 4ppm to 0.4% sulfur. 
  • Leco TC500 – capable of analyzing Nitrogen and Oxygen content in metals from 0.5ppm to 0.2% oxygen and 0.5ppm to 3.0% nitrogen with precision of 0.25ppm or 0.5% RSD whichever is greater.
