A timeline of Designed Alloy Products, Inc. is featured below:
1993
- John Hoffman and his wife, Cristi form Designed Alloys, Inc. The company starts out as a distributor of Certified Ingot in Naperville, IL.

1994
- The company expands into Scrap, forming Johnson Metals, which subsequently becomes Designed Alloy Products, Inc. (DAP).

1996
- A 35,000 square foot Scrap Processing and Warehouse facility is established in Aurora, IL, which also becomes the Company Headquarters.

1999

DAP acquires 4 buildings totaling 16,000 square feet along with other assets in Wakita, OK from the Adams Hard-facing Company. The acquisition includes a Melt Shop and Machine Shop for producing hard-facing alloys for the Agricultural industry.

2000
- DAP acquires CE Metals, a Scrap Processor in Chattanooga, TN.
- DAP establishes a Scrap Processing Operation in a leased facility in Eastern Pennsylvania.

2001
- DAP begins producing Continuous Cast Rod in DeKalb, IL to serve the Dental, Agriculture and Jewelry Industries.
- DAP acquires a 120,000 square foot facility in Derry, PA for its Pennsylvania Scrap Operation.

2003
- Alloy Rod Products, Inc. (ARP) is formed as a separate entity for the Continuous Cast Rod business.

2005
- John Hoffman passes away 1/19/05 at age 46; Cristi Hoffman becomes the sole owner of the companies.
- ARP expands and acquires a 35,000 square foot facility in Rochelle, IL, moving its operation from DeKalb.

2007
- DAP acquires a 94,000 square foot facility in Chattanooga, TN for expansion of the Scrap Processing operation and to produce Certified Ingot.

2011
- DAP completes the development of a state-of-the-art Melt Shop in Chattanooga in a 26,000 square foot addition to its existing facility.
- Cristi Hoffman establishes an Advisory Board to assist in managing the continued growth and expansion of the companies.
